During the first quarter of 2020, Huawei released a slew of new phones. They finished with a series that Tunisians are pretty familiar with: the Nova 7i. Huawei’s Nova series is known for its power and elegance. This line of smartphones is notable for providing flagship-level performance at an affordable price.
While the Kirin 980 or 990 isn’t used in the Nova 7i, we’ve seen what’s good (and what’s not) about it. In this review, we’ll go through everything in detail.

Huawei Nova 7i: Design & Features
The Huawei Nova 7i has a design that is quite similar to the Nova 5T but with some minor enhancements. The front display has been upgraded to a 6.4-inch LTPS IPS panel with a 2310 x 1080 pixels resolution.
The smartphone’s IPS display provides a good viewing experience with a wide range of viewing angles. Colors are represented with a bit of contrast and precision, while blacks aren’t as deep as an IPS screen should be. On the other hand, the display’s brightness is sufficient for outdoor use.
On the Huawei Nova 7i, the punch-hole that debuted on the Nova 5T makes a comeback. However, the pixel count has been reduced from 32MP f/2.0 to 16MP f/2.0, even though the starting price for the latter is substantially lower.
Huawei has toned down the extravagant look of the Nova 7i’s predecessor. The Huawei Nova 7i now has a two-tone design with a glossy finish.
The camera setup has also been redesigned. Instead of stacking the cameras vertically, the Nova 7i compresses the four cameras into a square configuration, with the LED flash near the bottom. A 4MP f/1.8 main sensor, an 8MP f/2.4 ultrawide sensor, a 2MP f/2.4 macro sensor, and a 2MP f/2.4 portrait sensor make up the camera bump.
There is no fingerprint scanner on the rear; this is because, like the Huawei Y9s, it has been built into the power button on the right-hand side. The smartphone’s volume rocker is located just above the power button.
The Huawei Nova 7i has a sturdy design that will appeal to most smartphone consumers. The chassis is composed of plastic, yet there is no flex to speak of, and the two-tone color scheme is an attractive design for all.
Huawei Nova 7i: UI
The Huawei Nova 7i comes with EMUI 10 on top of Android 10. The majority of the features we’ve come to expect from a Huawei smartphone, such as multi-window mode, are available. You can also switch the navigation from buttons to gestures and choose from many layout options.
Despite running on a Google operating system, the Nova 7i does not include Google Services, unlike several recent offerings. Huawei’s mobile services, as well as the App Gallery, are available instead of Google Play.

Huawei Nova 7i: Camera
The Huawei Nova 7i camera app comes with everything you’ll need to make the most of its quad cameras. Photo, Video, Pro, Night, Portrait, Panorama, Stickers, HDR, Slow Motion, Light Painting, Moving Picture, Super Macro, Aperture, Time Lapse, and Document are just a few of the modes available.
A 48MP f/1.8 primary camera leads the Huawei Nova 7i’s quad-camera system. The primary shooter’s photos are detailed and well-saturated even in low-light situations. There is some noise in dark areas, but it isn’t enough to detract from the image.
An 8MP f/2.4 ultrawide camera supports the smartphone’s main camera. It takes detailed photos while not having the same pixel count as the primary camera. Colors are a little washed out, but they can be brought up to a more satisfactory standard with a few modifications.
Huawei Nova 7i: Performance
The Huawei Nova 7i is powered by a Kirin 810 processor, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable internal storage. The Kirin 810 is based on TSMC’s 7nm process and includes two Cortex-A76 big cores with a clock speed of up to 2.27GHz and six Cortex-A55 little cores with a clock speed of up to 1.88GHz, as well as a Mali-G52 MP6 GPU.
While not as strong as flagship-class chipsets, the Kirin 810 provides a good experience with no noticeable lags or glitches. The processor achieves a score of 305,280 in AnTuTu and 7692 in PCMark Work 2.0, making it one of the more powerful mid-range chipsets on the market.
Huawei Nova 7i: Battery
A 4,200mAh battery reserve powers the Huawei Nova 7i, which is charged via a USB Type-C port on the bottom. With medium use, a full charge is a plenty to get us through the day with enough charge to get us through the following day. The device lasts 13 hours and 36 minutes on the PCMark Work 2.0 battery life test with medium brightness and volume.
Fortunately, the Nova 7i supports Huawei’s 40W SuperCharge, generally reserved for their flagship phones. The smartphone’s tremendous charging capabilities allow it to charge its 4,200mAh battery in under an hour fully.
Should You Buy The Huawei Nova 7i?
The Huawei Nova 7i, which retails for 859 DT, is well-positioned in the market to provide a great smartphone experience without breaking the bank. However, there are a few drawbacks to an otherwise impressive smartphone.
Given that some apps are not available in Huawei’s AppGallery, the lack of any official Google services support could be a deal-breaker. Because the Huawei Nova 7i only accepts Nano Memory Cards, which are more expensive than MicroSD cards with equivalent capacities, expanding the storage can be costly.
Despite its shortcomings, the smartphone nonetheless delivers powerful performance thanks to the Kirin 810 processor, an excellent quad camera, and a pretty large screen. All of the Huawei Nova 7i’s positives, in our opinion, considerably surpass the sum of its flaws.
