Have you decided to exercise your Second Amendment right to own a firearm, and have you received a concealed carry permit? To truly conceal your weapon, you need to choose the right holster and clothing. These are a few tips for choosing your clothing for concealed carry.
Concealed Carry Clothing
Some clothing, such as concealment vests, are made specifically to conceal a weapon. Other clothing options may include belts, underclothes and jackets that are made to act as concealment holsters.
Find a Strong Belt
If you carry on your hip or on your waist, you need a strong belt or concealment holster that places the weapon inside the waist of your pants. Choose a tactical belt that will keep your holster from bouncing or shifting throughout the day.
Choose Heavier Fabrics
Your fabric weight has a direct impact on whether others can see your weapon. Choose fabrics that don’t drape naturally. A stiffer fabric is preferred. Although you may find it more difficult to draw, everyone in the area won’t know the moment you walk into a room that you are carrying.
Wear Layers
You should always have a shirt under your firearm so that it doesn’t come into contact with your skin. Your weapon can become corroded and damaged by your sweat, and your skin can be rubbed raw if your weapon is against it. Protect yourself and your weapon by placing undergarments between your weapon and your skin.
Wear Larger Sizes
It is difficult to hide your firearm in the summer when lighter fabric is more comfortable. However, consider wearing pants, shirts and jackets that are slightly larger than your original size.
Choose Patterns
Patterns hide bumps and bulges under your clothing. However, avoid stripes, which may be more revealing that plain fabrics.
Blend in With the Crowd
You don’t want to stand out when you are carrying concealed. Therefore, don’t wear heavy coats in the heat. Choose lightweight jackets and vests instead.
It’s your responsibility to ensure that your firearm is concealed. Carry safely by choosing the right clothing.
