Following are the steps that you can follow to create an ABAP console application:
- Launch ADT and tap on the “Window” tab.
- Now tap on the “Perspective” option and then tap on the “Open Perspective” option.
- After that, hit the “Other” option.
- Now hit the “ABAP” option. After that hit “Open.”
- Next, tap on the “File” tab and then tap on the “New project” option.
- Now hit the “Other” option and select the “ABAP Cloud Project” option from the dropdown menu and then hit “Next.”
- Next, tap on the “Use Cloud Foundry Environment” option which is present in the “SAP BTP Cloud Foundry Environment” section.
- Now hit/click “Next.”
- Next, you have to submit your connection settings details. To do this, first select your region using the dropdown menu that is present near the “Region” option.
- Now enter your email and password in the “Email” and “Password” fields and then hit “Next.”
- Next, you have to submit your service instance details. To do this, first, enter the name of your organization in the “Organization” field.
- Now type “dev” in the “Space” field.
- Next, select the “default_abap-trial” option from the dropdown menu that is present near the “Service instance” option and then hit “Next.”
- Now tap on the “Open Logon Page in Browser” option to be authenticated automatically,
- Next, submit your login credentials if asked.
- Now navigate back to ADT and hit the “Finish” option.
- Next, right-click on the “ZLocal” package and then tap on the “New” option. After that, tap on the “Package” option.
- Now enter “ZPACKAGE_XXX” in the “Name” field.
- Next, enter “My Package XXX” in the “Description” field.
- Now tap on the “Add to favorite packages” checkbox and then hit “Next.”
- Next, tap on the “Create a new request” option.
- Now type “TR1234” in the “Request Description” field and hit “Finish.”
- Next, right-click on your new package and then tap on the “New” option.
- Now tap on the “Class” option to add a new class to your package.
- Next, enter “Z_CLASS_XXX” in the “Name” field and “My class XXX” in the “Description” field.
- Now hit “Next.”
- Next tap on the “Choose from requests in which I am involved” option and select your request (TR1234).
- Now hit “finish” to create your class.
- Next, you have to implement the interface by specifying the interface in the public section. To do this type “INTERFACES IF_OO_ADT_CLASSRUN” in the public section.
- Now navigate to the class implementation and create a main method. To do this type “METHOD if_oo_adt_classrun~main” in the class implementation.
- After that, type “out->write (‘Hello World!’)” below it.
- Now you have to save and activate your changes. To do this, use the following shortcut keys: “Ctrl+S” (For saving changes) and “Ctrl+F3” (For activating changes).
- Next, right-click on your class and tap on the “Run as” option.
- Finally, tap on the “ABAP Application” option to run and test your console app.
