For starters, without a doubt, the old Brezza was one of the bestselling Maruti Suzuki cars in India.
The new generation Brezza received a complete makeover, making it a big step up from its previous generation. It boasts a long list of exterior and interior updates. Along with interior updates, it also gets added features for comfort, safety, and entertainment. As for badging, the carmaker dropped the “Vitara” from the new generation Brezza, as the discontinued model was called the “Vitara Brezza”. The suffix “Vitara” is now a separate offering, called the “Grand Vitara,” that entered the market recently.
The compact crossover SUV has the same underpinnings as the outgoing model. It also carries forward the same engine option but with a different state of tune. So, if you sign a cheque for the top model of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, you’ll get the following offerings:
A plush interior with loads of features
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza’s interior is poles apart compared to its predecessor. Once inside, the compact crossover SUV will welcome you with its new dual-tone interior that looks premium. The dashboard also receives a newly designed texture. It also gets silver inserts around the A/C vents, centre console, infotainment screen, and door panels. In the centre part of the dashboard, you’ll notice a floating 9-inch infotainment screen that supports Maruti’s new software, the Smartplay Pro+, and connected car technology. And beneath the HVAC control panel, you’ll get USB ports alongside a 12V socket and a wireless charger. The compact crossover SUV also receives single-tone ambient lighting in blue that elevates the mood of the passenger(s).
Besides that, once seated on the driver’s side, you’ll get a multi-functional leather-wrapped steering wheel, an analogue instrument cluster with MID at the centre of it, auto HVAC and lights, etc. In addition, it receives a heads-up display (HUD) that projects information such as speed, rpm, clock, and gear mode, to name a few.
Furthermore, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza features a panoramic sunroof. Interestingly, unlike other vehicles, the new Brezza also offers the possibility to move the rear passengers’ sunroof glass. And if you want to beat the heatwave by refrigerating your beverages, then the glove box cooler is there to help you.
Besides that, the Brezza also gets an ARKAMYS-sourced audio system, as seen in the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.
As for the back seat experience, there seems to be adequate under-thigh support and a decent amount of legroom. However, as per a few sources, the common opinion on the backrest was that the passenger would tend to have an upright position. Speaking of rear seats, they get a 60:40 split, by which you can increase the boot space. That said, the standard 2022 Brezza’s boot space is 328 litres.

Safety Features
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza boasts a good number of safety features since it has six airbags, a 360-degree camera, auto anti-glare IRVM, an engine immobiliser, auto headlights, etc. Furthermore, it also gets hill-assist, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, ABS with EBD, tow-away alert, and an SOS button, to name a few.
But, despite having a long list of safety features, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza’s crash test is yet to be done.
A different character
The new generation of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza retains the silhouette of the outgoing Brezza. However, since it’s a new generation, the company has to differentiate from the outgoing model, right? So, that is why the new Brezza received revised lights, bumpers, and a few other cosmetic changes. The exterior looks as good as the interior, undoubtedly. Let’s begin from the front. Maruti Suzuki has followed the trend like other carmakers by providing L-shaped LED lights. It also gets a revised grille with gloss-grey and chrome inserts, while the lower section of the revised bumper with skid plate has a reshaped fog lamp housing.
Now, for the side profile, you’ll first notice the black cladding that runs throughout the lower section of the car’s body. Apart from the cladding, the car gets several black colour schemes, such as on the ORVMs, window beltline trim and the roof. But for the black-coloured roof, the customer will have to choose the dual-tone variant. Moreover, the roof also gets roof rails for luggage loading.
And at the rear, it gets a black integrated spoiler covering the rear windshield. The rear windshield also gets a rear wiper along with a washer. Apart from that, it also gets stylish Y-shaped LED tail lamps accompanied by black inserts to give a sporty look. The lower section of the rear bumper shows black cladding and a skid plate.
Please note that the colour schemes and features mentioned will vary from variant to variant. The mentioned cosmetic features are available in the top model of the Brezza. To know the price of the top model, check out the Brezza car price.
The same engine with a slight detunes
As mentioned earlier, the new Brezza carries forward the same engine as its predecessor. However, as the name suggests, it gets a lower state of tune. As for the powertrain, the 2022 Brezza has the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally-aspirated (NA) petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 137Nm of torque– 2bhp and 1Nm less than before. It also gets Maruti Suzuki’s mild-hybrid technology. This engine is available in the Maruti Suzuki XL6 and the Ertiga.
Moreover, you can compare the 2022 Brezza’s specifications with those of its rivals and siblings under the “compare cars” section on autoX.
Alongside the engine, customers can opt for a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Depending on the transmission, the 2022 Brezza’s mileage (ARAI-claimed) ranges between 19.8kmpl and 20.15kmpl.
